“I cannot recommend these queer tango classes in Edinburgh enough. They’ve got something for queer theorists, and mad folk, bad dancers, all genders and of course tango lovers!” – Darcy Leigh

Queer tango is a form of Argentine tango that is gender-neutral and questioning of traditional dance roles. We would love for you to be part of the growing queer tango community in Edinburgh. Learn and develop all aspects of the dance, whether you are a beginner, or you already dance tango in one or more roles. QTE classes are friendly, fun and engaging. They are mixed level classes where absolute beginners are always welcome. You can come along by yourself, or with a friend/partner. There is lots of individual attention, if you want it. Everyone is welcome: all sexual identities, all genders.
Argentine Tango is a social, partner dance which is improvised. It is an interactive conversation between the dancers. While it may look good, it is so compelling because of how it feels.
Learn how to dance Queer Tango in an inclusive and friendly environment. Learn how to lead (suggest the movements), follow (interpret the suggestions), and mindfully mix things up. Have fun and make new friends. Come and be part of our fabulous queer tango community in Edinburgh.
Come and learn queer tango with us!
beginners/mixed classes; Wednesday: 7-9PM
(note: absolute beginners welcome at all classes; we are growing this community organically and the mixed nature of the classes are delightful, supportive and wonderfully efficient at helping people develop their own tango)
Cost: PWYC (pay what you can)
We want anyone who fancies learning tango to be able to come along to QTE classes. People in certain groups are far less likely to be able to afford classes, and this includes many queer-identified people, as well as many others. QTE is a break-even endeavor. Our new pricing structure is a choice of: PWYC (Pay What You Can) or, IF you can afford to, you can choose to pay the amounts we suggest on the classes page, or more.
If you are tempted at all by queer tango, I would love to hear from you.
